Born in Lesce (1899) and died in Buenos Aires (1984), writer Mirko Kunčič is a wrongly overlooked expert of Slovenian myths and folklore. His imaginary landscape is Dovje and the Alpine paradise around Mount Triglav, and his sources are the older locals.
Writers Fran Milčinski Ježek and Josip Vandot deeply appreciated Kunčič’s sense of humour. The Bedanc character appeared in an Alpine fairytale “How the people of Dovje caught Bedanc” even before Vandot’s story Kekec.
You can experience Kunčič’s Triglav fairytales in the wonderland “Travelling along the trails of Triglav fairytales”.
